Car maintenance isn't something that most people enjoy doing but it's an important part of protecting your investments and in keeping you and your family safe while driving. Here are a few basic essentials to car maintenance that you need to know about. 
 
1. Oil is essential
 Getting an oil change regularly is universal for all car owners (or it should be). Unless your car manual says differently, you should get your car oil changed every 3 000 miles which is around 3 months' worth of driving if you use your car daily. An oil change is something that you can learn to do yourself but it also won't cost a lot to have it done by your local auto repair shop.
 
2. Tires wear out unevenly
Everyone knows that tires experience wear and tear, but did you know that your front tires wear out faster than the ones at the back? That's why it's important to practice tire rotation to make the most out of your tires and to promote even wear. Tire rotation is something that you can have done around the same time as your oil changes (3 000 miles to 5 000 miles). You'll have to move your left-rear tire to the right-front part of the car and vice-versa. The right-rear tire will be switched with the left-front tire. Moving tires around isn't difficult but it can include a lot of heavy lifting. Having it done by your auto repair specialist while getting an oil change shouldn't be a problem.
 
3. Save money
You're not only making sure that your car is safe to drive by regularly maintaining it; you're also saving a lot of money. A well-maintained car is more fuel efficient, and you're preventing more serious repairs that can happen when a car doesn't get the care that it needs.
