There are actually quite a few reasons why Photoshop is considered the very best photo editing software in the world. First and foremost, anyone can learn how to Photoshop. If you do not feel you can learn how to Photoshop through hands-on experience, do not worry. There are plenty of resources online that will help you get started. You can easily find blogs, articles, video tutorials, and websites that will give you a great head start toward being able to edit like a pro. At least give it a try. This software is incredibly powerful.

There are three well-known tricks that you can use to improve the quality of a photo. The following methods are effective whether you are retouching old photos or fixing photographic artifacts on recent vacation pictures.

Brightness and contrast sliders. Regardless of your skill as a photographer, natural light has a tendency to cause over or under exposure. This is not a problem in Photoshop. A few clicks of the mouse and you can turn a decent photo into a great one. When you adjust the brightness and contrast of an entire photo, however, particularly dark areas can become solid black. To avoid this problem, all you have to do is adjust the brightness and contrast in sections by selecting the area with the lasso tool.

Levels are similar to the brightness and contrast sliders except that, instead of directly altering the image, you are actually pulling light or shadow into your inputs or outputs. It is probably the most popular approach to adjusting an image and can easily eliminate gray areas and add dynamic contrast.

The curve tool. This is one of the most powerful tools in Photoshop. It allows you to adjust brightness and contrast, richness, and dynamic quality with just a few clicks. There are two ways you can use this tool.

Use the graph. If you use the graph, you will have to point points on a grid and pull.

Eye droppers. The more popular of the two methods, this one allows you to adjust your photo with a few clicks. Just select the dark eye dropper and click on the darkest area in the picture. Then, select the light eye dropper and select the lightest area and click okay in the dialogue box.
