The committee is considering the S510 bill as the Senate as a while recommended it to be considered. It has been placed on a calendar of business. However, the order in which legislation is considered and voted on is determined by the majority of party leadership. Also before you continue reading this article, remember that the text of one bill is usually incorporated into another bill. In cases such as these, the original bill would only seem to be abandoned. This is the case with the S510 bill.

There are two bills that are connected to this issue. The first one is housing bill HR875 regarding Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009. This bill has already been passed. However, there is something else that has been going viral over the internet which is Senate bill S510 which is currently still under debate. There is a proposed amendment that farmers who grow over $500,000 a year will be exempted from this regulation.


The excuse for the 250 page bill is to improve capacity to prevent food safety problems. The bill was drafted after all the food recalls of salmonella outbreak in produce. In order to keep our food safer, they are regulating on who can grow food in their backyard, share and trade and sell them and who cannot. Luckily, farmers who grow more than $500,000 a year are the ones who will be exempted from the regulation. How convenient!

Commenting on the S510 bill, agricultural company Monsanto claims that it has no interest whatsoever in the bill, let alone benefit from it. Former Monsanto employees interestingly are currently holding positions in US government agencies such as Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Environmental Protection Agencies. Among these employees is Michael Taylor, former lobbyist of Monsanto.

Now here comes the surprise. Former lobbyist of the company, Michael Taylor, apparently is the one who designed the Senate bill S510. He is currently waiting to be appointed Food Czar to the FDA. This position does not need any approval by Congress. With this position, Michael Taylor will administer the agency the bill would create if it passes. This will give Monsanto unlimited power over all US seed, food supplements, food and farming.

Senate bill S510 will eventually put all US food and all US farms under Homeland Security and the Department of Defense, in the event of contamination or an ill-defined emergency. This goes according to Henry Kissinger's plan as discussed by the article Henry Kissinger's 1974 Plan for Food Control Genocide which appeared as part of a feature in the December 8, 1995 issue of Executive Intelligence Review.
