Potty Training Age
Potty training age has absolutely nothing to do with the decision of when to start potty training. Though one can start potty training child from a year over, success is never determined by the age of the child, but by the willingness to succeed of both you and your little one.

In other words, both you and your child's mindset should be ready for this whole new experience prior to potty training phase is initiated. Toddlers who show potty training readiness signs in any potty training age bracket are more likely to succeed in a very short time than those who simply are not ready for it yet.

Experience shows that kids at a potty training age of one is extremely challenging. There are times when potty training readiness signs are visible at this very tender age, and in that case it is encouraged to try out potty training. However, with toddlers this young you need to take extra attention on the fact that it is hard for them to recognize their bowel movements. Thus, potty training accidents are usually very frequent in such cases. To avoid too many potty training accidents, parents or carers are encouraged to take their young ones to sit on the potty very frequently at first, say every 5 minutes. Then start prolonging time by a couple of minutes to establish how long it takes your child to need to go. Avoiding potty training accidents helps the child realize he or she can be good at not having such accidents, and will soon learn to recognize their needs in time.

As for potty training age two and beyond, young ones at this stage can be slightly more aware of their bowel movements, and thus would not have as much potty training accidents as those of younger age. Kids at this age however tend to be easily distracted, and sometimes may refuse to go sit on the potty even though the need is there. Their mindset would think it's not worth leaving their freshly started game to go potty, or missing this television cartoon to go waste time on the potty. This may mean having accidents by putting potty usage as second priority to what they are doing. Your speech at this stage is highly important. Phrasing the child to go potty, you should never ask a two year old, "do you need to go potty?, since it is highly probable the answer would be a definite "no. Instead, rephrase sentence differently, such as, "come on sweety let's go potty whilst you take your child's hand in yours and guide towards the potty.

When to start potty training training depends entirely on your own child. Remember that one wrong move here could get your child go into potty training regression before you even realize it. Every child is different, so you need to seek your own child's potty training readiness signals prior to potty training, as well as know exactly how you should deal with each potty training dilemma that may emerge from time to time. Doing so you will ensure a fast, fun, exciting and most importantly successful potty training phase with your child.
