Photoshop in Website Development
Photoshop in Website Development
Maybe you're under the impression that Photoshop is only for professional artists to get their photo editing work done more quickly. And, yea, it is a great option for graphic artists. However, despite Photo shop being a great image editing software, it also has a valid and useful place in website development. In fact, if a web designer doesn't have Photo shop, they aren't going to get the best results. That's because a great website will incorporate a number of graphics and images into its design.

Photoshop is a key piece of software for web developers for the following reasons:

1. Slices for easier web development.

Experienced graphic designers who typically work in two dimensional spaces can use their skills to create layouts for website. In Photo shop, you can actually create the entire website, including the header, the navigation bars, and text areas, so that you can see how everything will work together. Then, Photoshop software can export the designed layout using slices that will be used in the final website development.

2. Photoshop only uses the universal file formats

Programmers know that they can depend on Photo shop's slices to be accessible when coding the final website. This is especially important when working on teams. In a team environment, saving in an inaccessible file format can be a waste of time. With Photo shop, you can actually save one layout in several different file formats without taking away from the quality of the original. A Photo shop document can be saved as a .psd , .pdf, .txt or .eps file. This makes Photo shop ideal for virtual teams because each individual in the team may have a different operating system or use it for a different application.

3. Interfacing capabilities

While rollover images should be used sparingly, they have their place in quality web design. Quite a few visitors admit that they are fond of rollovers. Not surprisingly, Photo shop can create a rollover quite easily.

With a little training, a graphic designer could quickly learn that Photo shop is the best of the best.
