Breast cancer constitutes approximately 22.9% of all cancer types in women. Typically originating in the milk ducts or lobules of breast tissue, this disease can affect both men and women. When it is caught early, the chances of beating it can be as high as 98%. Unfortunately, if it reaches a more advanced stage, the chance of survival decreases to 23%. It is, therefore, very important to detect this disease before it spreads. These facts, combined with a passion for preventing this devastating disease from overwhelming its sufferers, inspired the creation of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM).

It is a simple concept. Raise awareness of breast cancer so that women will be more likely to detect a problem while medical intervention still provides a viable solution. Races, two day long walks, and destination bike rides have been raising money for breast cancer research around the world. Sadly, the research is not moving along as many had hoped. It is clear that more money, more brilliant minds, and greater public awareness are needed to eradicate this devastating disease. In other words, fundraisers need to take a more interactive approach. Raising funds with a spin wheel campaign is a great way to help those in your community that are afflicted with this cancer while also informing others about this terrible disease.

There are only two things you will need to get started with a spin a wheel campaign. The first thing you will need is a prize wheel. They can be easily customized, can generate fun and interactivity at any fundraising event, and are available in a wide range of sizes. Some prize wheels even come with interchangeable prize wheel clickers, allowing a user to switch to a quieter clicker for indoor use. The second thing, unfortunately, can be a little tougher to get a hold of. You cannot buy it in a store and you cannot borrow it from a friend. You have to pull it forth from the depths of your soul. If you have not realized it yet, the second thing you will need is compassion.

Richard Whatley, the Archbishop of the Church of Ireland in 1831, said, "A man is called selfish not for pursuing his own good, but for neglecting his neighbor's." In the fast-paced world we live in, many find it difficult to have empathy for those suffering from a life-draining disease such as cancer. For this reason, potential donors need to be informed about the crisis so many families are facing and encouraged to give all they can to support the cause. With a spin a wheel campaign, you can grab the attention of potential donors and let them know how much they are needed. Let them know what tragedy has moved you, personally, to become an avid fundraiser for cancer victims. The most important thing you can tell them is how they can help. Let them know that just one dollar invested in the lives of someone who is suffering with cancer can make the difference between them focusing on fighting for their life or focusing on the daily grind of life's demands.
