Today, technology has made artistic techniques and effects available to more people. Photo shop is providing a way for people to create art in a short period of time without much work.

Sure, nothing beats an actual oil painting on a real piece of stretched canvas. But, nowadays, people can appreciate art on their computer screens. So, Photoshop is becoming a good way to express yourself artistically. How to photo shop artistically takes a bit of patience and learning. But, you can get started very quickly. In fact, there is a way to literally begin creating artistically beautiful work in seconds. The answer is Photoshop layer effects.

In Photo shop, you can choose to work from a blank canvas, or you can place images within your canvas and start from there when creating artwork. It is probably easier to use pre existing images that have colors and textures readily available for you to use. You could create an artistic rendering of a lake with a boat by starting with a few separate pictures and placing them together for reference. Or, you could take your own family photos and begin to use those as your source. Whatever you choose to do, just have fun and enjoy the creativity.

Layer effects help you learn how to photo shop the most interesting artistic qualities within an image. You can layer objects over one another and then combine them using the layer mode. Or, you can create a new layer and use the art history brush tool to paint a stylized version of the source layer. This technique is preferred for those who want to work quickly. However, there are certainly many hours that one can spend cleaning up the art work.

Another technique in Photo shop that artists like to utilize is the effects panel. There are many effects available in Photo shop. How to photo shop in watercolor is easily accomplished by adding the watercolor brush effect to an image. Photo shop will render the image as a watercolor based on your settings. You can also do dry brush or pencil based effects. There are so many options to choose from. Just play around in Photo shop and see what you can conjure up.

Photo shop has a pretty easy learning curve for those starting out. This software has a simply interface, many resources online, and it is incredibly flexible. However, those starting out can get lost once in a while. That is when it is important to follow some online resources that will help to teach the basic functions of the core tools.
