As time slips steadily into the future, families can grow very far apart, geographically and emotionally. Holding a family reunion can be a great way to bring the whole family together. Unfortunately, attending a family reunion that is filled with nothing but dry conversation and the occasional argument is not quite how most would like to spend their vacation.
Adding fun is perhaps the most important thing
an individual can do to ensure a great time for family members traveling great distances to see their loved ones. While visiting a local game store might be a viable option, taking a lesson from fairs, carnivals, and amusement parks can turn a mediocre family reunion into memories that will last a lifetime.
Fairs have long held the title as one of the most enjoyable events an individual can attend. With a wide assortment of games and activities ranging from amusement rides to miniature golf, people of all personality types and personal interests can have fun and strengthen interpersonal bonds. Why not borrow a few fun ideas from these wonderful events?
With a prize wheel
, a little creativity, and a passion for hosting an event that the whole clan will enjoy, anyone can hold an unforgettable family reunion.
1. Buy a prize wheel.
This is perhaps the easiest step but requires careful attention to detail. Though it may be a little cliché, buying online really can save your valuable time. Look for a wheel that has been made in the USA, is fully customizable, and comes in a wide assortment of sizes. And, if the family is full of kids you might want to make sure your prize wheel is extremely durable. A simple search on Google will yield many perfectly acceptable retailers but beware, if ité─˘s not made in the US, ité─˘s not worth the expense.
2. Print out the inserts that will slide into the wedges around the outer edge of the wheel.
These are what determine the function of the spin wheel. If used as a game, these inserts should contain suggestions such as "Tug of war" or "Volleyball". Or if the point is to bring them closer together by letting them get to know each other better then insert wedges that say things like,
"Tell what the most important thing that has happened this year," or something like that. If the intention is to give family members a chance to win a prize, the inserts should simply contain the name of the prize (i.e. , DVD player, bag of candy, a book, kids' toy, etc).
3. Use a picture of the prize wheel on the invitations.
The moment Uncle Bob and Aunt Cilia get a glimpse of that beautiful spin wheel, the hotel reservations and plane tickets will be their top priority until the day of the reunion. Everyone loves a bit of fun and everyone enjoys spinning a prize wheel!
