Forum traffic is one of the biggest sources of traffic online. However, many people ask if it is any good for converting traffic. The answer is all in how you get that traffic. The biggest website traffic secrets
are all about connecting with people, and forums are one of the best places to do that. If you post and run, leaving links, but no value to the community, then you will not see as good of results.
Like anything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. If you give it quality, time, and effort, then you will be rewarded. However, if you don't take the time to help, then you will be left with freebie seekers, and dragging your feet in the mud wishing for sales.
"But what about "No Follow" forums? are they any good"
That is a common question, brought about by the myths created by "SEO experts out to rape your wallet of your hard earned cash. One thing that you have to realize is that the no follow tag and PR are both Google inventions and they are the only ones that pay any attention to them at all. Even they don't totally pay attention to it very much.
Forums are great for a lot of reasons and it isnt just about traffic, although it is great for that as well. I get direct traffic, personal branding for my sites and my name within a niche, and more. Not only are you building a reputation with potential customers, but you will also be noticed by other business owners (and product owners) who use that niche forum as well.
I have gotten several JV offers, email swaps, invitations to product launches that I didn't really meet their criteria for, free products, clients for my business related services, and more all from hanging out on forums in other niches.
I even had a fairly popular product owner in a specific niche market promote my blog to his list, because of the relationship we built up on a forum. Not only did I get a boost to my traffic, they were all proven buyers...
But it takes a lot of time to do, and it isn't effective to do it if you have a lot of niches, and several forums in each one.
For me, although I have 20 websites, I am really only in 3 markets. Each of my sites are highly targeted to sub niches within those markets. I also specifically chose niches that are easily cross promoted with the niches that I am already in. This way I can link to them in the forums that I already have a reputation in, and I can build my reputation even more over time.
What it all comes down to is the time you spend leveraging that forum for your business. Get out there and start using forums to drive traffic to your website. try it out, and see how well it can work for you today.
