If you have a dog or are thinking of getting a dog, then you really have to consider getting dog doors. Yes, you really need to get more than one dog door for your home, perhaps several
dog doors. Well, at least one dog door for your front door, one for your garage door, and even one dog door for your back door, or even your porch--several dog doors. Here are several great reasons why you should buy dog doors for your home.
One reason to buy a dog door is because there are times when you just do not want to get out of bed in the middle of the night. I mean, really, perhaps your dog was fed some people food, the food that we are not supposed to feed our dogs, and maybe you went to bed, without realizing that your dog might need to go out in the middle of the night. If you had a dog door, then you would not have to get out of bed in the middle of the night and let your dog out.
Personally, with our inside dog, there are some nights that she wakes us up in the middle of the night and has to go outside. And if we had dog doors installed in our home, that would generally not be a problem at all, Our dog would use the dog door to go outside and go to the bathroom whenever necessary. Since she is well trained, we got her from the pound a few years ago and she never wanted to go in the house, our dog will let us know when she has to go outside, thus having a dog door would be helpful.
A typical reason you would want to have dog doors installed in your home is if you have an enclosed back porch. If you have dog doors installed on the front door, the garage, and even the back porch door, there is a good chance that you will have one place to put the dog when your dog needs to be in an enclosed area. There are times of year that we want to have our dog outside, but we do not necessarily want her to be in the house. One dog door on the porch will allow our dog to come or go as it pleases.
As you can see, there are reasons to install
dog doors in your home. One dog door for the porch, one dog door for the garage. At some times of year, mainly in the winter months, we have a time when it is very cold, but only for a few nights. We have installed a dog door in the garage as well as the back porch so that the dog can be put in the garage where it is warmer, especially since we have a heated garage. The dog door is helpful to have, especially when it is cold and rainy outside and the dog should stay in the garage where is is dry and out of the weather. We decided a few years ago that we needed dog doors on the garage and on the back porch door.
Dog doors, installed correctly, will allow your dog to come and go as it pleases, as long as your dog is trained to use the dog door. There are certain dogs, not necessarily certain breeds, but certain actual dogs, who just will not use a dog door. And in these cases, dog doors can be removed without noticeable damage to your home. You can though, typically convince any dog to use a dog door, especially when you take the time to do the proper training. Some dogs will naturally understand the concept of using dog doors, but there are some whose personality just does not allow you to train it to use a dog door. We have one dog, for example, who has no problem using
dog doors. But there are other dogs we have, we have two dogs that will not use dog doors. I amn not sure why they will not use a dog door, but even after training they would rather have the attention of us letting them out the door.
