About Spyware - What It Really Is.
If you believed everything you saw, heard and read about spyware then you'd probably also think that criminals and the like are continually trying to hack your computer every time you go online.
Although that element does exist it is a bit far fetched and nowhere near as bad as you may be led to believe. Advertising is the main source of spyware and that's what causes most people the biggest problem.
Not that I'm suggesting the more serious and sinister side about spyware should be ignored; that would be wrong. But it is true that many companies and advertisers use it to sell anti spyware products. In reality this is nearly as bad as the spyware itself; preying on innocent victims.
The real truth about spyware is and always has been that it's really not specifically designed to track your every move, locate your personal details and steal your money. It's always much more specific than that and hardly ever about actually spying on you.
The biggest problem with spyware is the browser hijacks and annoying pop ups that advertise porn or gambling. They are indiscriminate and will infect every computer they can gain access to. This kind of behavior is very unfriendly and is actually illegal if minors have access to a computer infected in this way. But there is so little control and so much of it about, spyware does its job very effectively in that way.
It's fairly easy to prevent spyware from accessing your computer though. With the right information and access to the proper software the nuisance factor that spyware represents can be pretty much eradicated.
Good security software will do all the work for you with only minor intervention from the user. Proper software has enough knowledge about spyware threats to actually block them before they reach your computer. On the odd occasion that something slips through it deals with it quickly and efficiently.
So the answer to any question about spyware problems is simply to use the best software. Then you can virtually forget about spyware all together and spend all of your time doing the things you like most on the internet.
