Potty Training Readiness
Potty training readiness
is what every child's mum, dad or carer should watch out for prior to starting potty training a child. While parents may surprisingly decide it's time their child started potty training, child may be thinking otherwise. Studies show that there is no set potty training age
that guarantees success, but when potty training readiness signs are visible in the child prior to starting potty training, success rate is much higher and potty training period is relatively smaller.
When to start potty training
varies according to each and every child. Potty training readiness signs can be easily identified through a couple of categories. Some of these potty training readiness signs have to do with child play. Your toddler may have already noticed you do not use nappies yourself but instead go to the bathroom when you need to. This may lead the child to test out potty or toilet safety by taking their favourite toy instead. Other young children may start playing with their favourite toys, chatting eagerly to themselves about going potty or toilet and being like the big kids.
Potty training age
has got nothing to do with potty training readiness. All kids are different, and whilst there are occasional toddlers who start showing potty training readiness signs at less than two years of age, others may still not be potty trained by the age of four, sometimes even more than that. Untrained kids at such age though tend to become more anxious prior to peeing or pooping in their nappies, and may scream and demand a nappy change as soon as it is all over. This is actually one of the main potty training readiness signs that kids tend to go through at one stage or another.
Potty training readiness signs may even be verbal, especially in kids over two years of age. Such signs may be child asking for a potty. Other little ones may start getting interested in what happens when you or other family members go to the bathroom. All this curiosity would be nothing but potty training readiness.
When to start potty training
your child depends on such potty training readiness
signs. Once you see your child is ready, establish whether you are ready to start this journey with your little one. Always remember that one wrong move may result in your child going through potty training regression. Knowing exactly what you should do when having to deal with different potty training related problems and aspects is extremely important so as to make sure your potty training experience will be a smooth one, and as short as possible.
