When writing a press release it is important that you use a professional writing style but you must also remember that you are writing not just for people but for the search engines as well. You have two aims with any press release that you write and that is to engage the reader and also to improve search engine rankings
for your website. As well as the keywords that you are looking to rank for, use semantic words and phrases also to enable your writing to flow more smoothly.
Semantic keywords and phrases are those that have the same meaning but are said in a different way and is what the search engines are looking for. When the search engine spiders your press release and finds many related words but in a different format it will not only give your main keyword a boost but you will also start to rank for the other words as well. Writing in this style will give a natural flow to your writing and should also keep your reader engaged enough to want to click through to your site.
There are three main factors that you must consider and if you check out examples of press releases on the main PR sites you should see these being used.
1: Establish an image and write your press release as if you are painting a picture in your readers head making sure that you use descriptive and vibrant words.
2: Use reader friendly language and do not assume that your target audience will understand what you are writing about. Your content must be clear, simple and free from jargon.
3: Resist the urge to promote your product in your release. Readers are looking for relevant information and not a sales pitch.
Using press releases in your link building campaigns
is a good move and if written in the correct manner will have an added bonus. Many sites will syndicate your content to other related PR websites so giving you even more link juice and helping to improve the search engine ranking for your website.
